I'm not sure why "cheers" (as a replacement for "thank you") specifically stabbed me right in the ovaries. I guess it's just one of those things you never hear over here in the US, so it's so much more foreign than just an accent.

I say cheers all the time. I'm American living in the U.S. but did live in the U.K. for three years. Can't remember if my buddies over there used that phrase often or not?
