Happy Tuesday, Jobzombies! Mother's Day is over! 8D I worked Saturday morning getting the last of the deliveries out the door, which caused me to miss some of Free Comic Book Day, but I still had a great time. Big City Comix was crowded with creators and fans all talking, laughing, and appreciating art. I sat next to Mario Mora for a while, and he gave me some great marketing and signage ideas that are still hopping around in my brain. Hopefully I can pull some of them off by Planet so my table looks super-spiffy for you all!

A small update from last week: the engineering firm that sent a picture of their computer screen? That was actually our picture that we sent them the last time we did a logo order for them, which they sent back as reference. If I'd looked in our logo image folder, I would have seen that we already had their logo on hand. <_<; This is why I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, you guys. My bad.

I'm going to be spending the next few weeks spotlighting some friends of mine who will be at Planet Comicon! These are people I love seeing every year, with stuff that I love to oggle. If only I had infinite money...
Mario Mora AKA the Artisan Rogue!
Mario is one of those Cool Convention Dads. "Cool" because he doesn't follow people around all day checking on them. But stop by his booth and you'll be treated to a warm, open person who genuinely loves talking about art. Or road trip stories. Or whatever. As I said earlier in this post, even in the few hours I spent sitting in the table next to him he looked at my stuff, gave genuine compliments, and ideas on how I could improve my presentation. And none of it was judgmental.

Mario is experienced in many other ways as well. His art is hard to pin down just because it's so varied. I originally got into his comic, Pagan Zoetrope, but he also does everything from prose to band logos to a Hobbit-themed Matryoshka doll. And podcasts! I don't know how he does it. And I hope I'm that prolific when I grow up.

Follow Mario on Patreon, Twitter, and YouTube. And see him at Planet Comicon May 20-22 2016!
